TAIBACH 37 v PENLAN 7

TAIBACH 37 POINTS, PENLAN 7 POINTS.

DIV. 2 WEST CENTRAL.

It was a five try victory for Taibach sending them to the top of Division 2 West Central against Penlan at the Plough with centre Aaron Jones crossing for a hat trick. It took only two minutes for the first score which came when scrum half Kyle Jenkins pressurised  his opposite number at a scrum who threw a pass which was intercepted by flanker Ryan Price and he sprinted away to score a try. The next twenty minutes was spent in the Penlan half, with Taibach monopolising possession, but Penlan finally broke away to score a try by Luke Davies, converted by Paul Spwort to take a 5-7 lead. On the half hour, flanker Ryan Price made a break thirty five yards out and appeared to be heading for his second try, but a desperate tackle stopped him short of the line, but the referee awarded Taibach a penalty which outside half Mike McSweeney kicked to regain the lead. From the restart, centre Aaron Jones broke on halfway, fed Ryan Price who made ground, then gave a pass to Captain and number eight Rhys Corcoran who ran in to score a try, converted by Mike McSweeney for a halftime lead of 15-7.

Early in the second half came Taibach’s third try which was started by flanker Myke Kelly, with centre Richard Olsen continuing the run, then returning the ball to Kelly who gave a final pass to Aaron Jones who crossed for the try, converted by McSweeney, and he followed this with his second penalty. On the half hour came another try with Myke Kelly once again making a break from his half and he passed to Aaron Jones who dummied defenders  before crossing for his second try and Mike McSweeney kicking his third conversion. With the game in the final minutes, Aaron Jones capped a fine Taibach and personal performance when he broke from seventy yards out and cross for his third try of the afternoon, with a Taibach victory of 37-7.
